Europa League: Potters Advance To Knockout Stage

At Lisbon, Portugal:


Ricky van Wolfswinkel (15') and Valeri Bozhinov (58') each scored once as Sporting CP won Group G following their 2-0 home win over FC Zurich, knocking the Swiss club out of the competition.

At Piatra Neamt, Romania:


FC Vaslui battle visiting Lazio to a 0-0 stalemate.

Kenwyne Jones' late equalizer (80') carried Stoke City onto the Round of 32 as the Potters drew level with visiting Dynamo Kiev 1-1.  Stoke's Matthew Upson's won goal in the 28th minute provided the lone goal for the visiting club from the Ukrainian capital.

At Tel Aviv, Israel:


Ricardo Quaresma scored twice, his first goal coming at 45 minutes while his second one in second-half stoppage time (90'+2) was the game winner as Besiktas placed themselves on the cusp of advancing to the knockout stage with their 3-2 road win over Maccabi Tel Aviv.

At Wals-Siezenheim, Austria:


Jakob Jantscher (19') and Dusan Svento (90'+4) provided the scoring punch as FC Red Bull Salzburg moved into second place in Group F with their 2-0 blanking of visiting Paris Saint-Germain.

Kiriakos Papadopouls (26') and Raul (57') provided the scoring as Schalke 04 won Group J with their 2-1 home win over Steaua Bucharest.

Marc Janko scored the only goal of the match in the 89th minute as FC Twente won Group K with their 1-0 home win over ten-man Fulham.

Maicon Marques (62') and Dmitri Sychev (PK-72') each delivered a goal as knockout-stage-bound Lokomotiv Moscow defeated visiting SK Sturm Graz 2-1.
