Justin Meram had a hand in both goals, assisting on Ethan Finlay's score in the 32nd minute and converting his own penalty kick in the 84th as the Columbus Crew blanked the injury-plagued San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 at home.
At Houston:
Michael Barrios scored twice (60', 79') and Mauro Diaz once (59') as FC Dallas defeated the Houston Dynamo 3-1 on the road.
At Carson, California:
The visiting Vancouver Whitecaps battled the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 0-0 stalemate.
