At Washington:
Wayne Rooney scored the lone goal of the match in the 18th minute as DC United tightened their hold on the final Eastern Conference playoff berth by beating visiting Toronto FC 1-0.
At Vancouver, British Columbia:
Daniel Salloi scored twice (82', 90'+7) as Sporting Kansas City's chances of copping the Western Conference regular-season title remained very much alive after dominating the Vancouver Whitecaps 4-1 on the road, delivering a crippling blow to the 'Caps' playoff chances.
