CAF Champions League: Qualifying Opens On Tuesday

The preliminary round for the 2018-19 CAF Champions League commenced on Tuesday with 12 games.

At Dakar, Senegal:

Ousseynou Gueye scored the only goal of the match in the third minute as ASC Diaraf defeated visiting US Koroki of Togo 1-0 in the opening match of their two-game series. 

At Bechar, Algeria:

Successfully-converted penalty kicks from Mohamed Hammia (10') and Mohamed Boulaouidet (51') carried JS Saoura to a series-opening 2-0 blanking of visiting SC Gagnoa (Ivory Coast).

At Tangier, Morocco:

Omar Arjoune converted a penalty kick in the 45th minute for the only goal in Ittihad Tanger's 1-0 series-opening home win over Chad's Elect-Sport.

At Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso:

Michel Batiebo scored the winning goal in the 60th minute as ASF Bobo Dioulasso defeated visiting Coton Sport (Cameroon) 3-1 in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Niamey, Niger:

Lazarous Kambole scored the game winner in the 83rd minute as ZESCO United knocked off AS SONIDEP 2-1 on the road in their series opener.

At Moroni, Comoros:

Volcan Club and visiting African Stars (Namibia) battled to a series-opening 0-0 stalemate.

At Djibouti City, Djibouti:

Mamadou Sidibe scored twice (7', 74') as Jimma Aba Jifar of Ethiopia defeated ASAS Djibouti Telecom 3-1 in their series opener on the road.

At Constantine, Algeria:

The opening match between CS Constantine and visiting GAMTEL (The Gambia) resulted in a 0-0 deadlock.

At Bangui, Central African Republic:

Oumar Traore scored the only goal of Stade Malien's series-opening 1-0 road win over Stade Centrafricaine in the 52nd minute.

At Lobatse, Botswana:

Litsepe Marabe's equalizer in the 60th minute lifted Bantu of Lesotho to a series-opening 1-1 road draw with Township Rollers.

Thatayaone Ditlhokwe scored for the Botswanan club in the 58th minute.

At Omdurman, Sudan:

Geovane Maranhao got the scoring started in the 17th minute as Al-Hilal demolished visiting JKU (Zanzibar) 4-0 in their series opener.

At Cairo, Egypt (due to security concerns in Libya):

Moataz Al-Mehdi scored twice (24', 35') as Libya's Al-Nasr dominated South Sudan's Al-Hilal uba in game one.
