At Alexandria, Egypt:
Nasser Maher (6') and Marwan Mohsen (38') each scored once as Al-Ahly took the opening match of their two-game series with visiting Jimma Aba Jifar of Ethiopia 2-0.
At Constantine, Algeria:
Kaddour Beldjilali's goal in the 15th minute enabled CS Constantine to defeat visiting Vipers SC of Uganda 1-0 in their series-opening contest.
At Cairo, Egypt (due to ongoing security concerns in Libya):
Moataz Al-Mehdi scored twice (26', 85') as Al-Nasr of Libya dominated visiting Horoya of Guinea 3-0 in their series opener.
