At Al Ain, United Arab Emirates:
In Wednesday's opening match in the FIFA Club World Cup, Tsukasa Shiotani (45'), Tongo Doumbia (49'), and Marcus Berg (85') each scored once in the second-half as Al-Ain, who were the champions in the host country's top soccer division, erased a three-goal deficit to tie the game at 3-3 and force what proved to be 30 minute scoreless overtime minutes, then, Diaky Ibrahim, Hussein El Shahat, the aforementioned Mr. Shiotani, and Caio Fernandes all converted their spot kicks to take the penalty-kick shootout 4-3 over New Zealand's Team Wellinton (representing Oceania) to advance to Saturday's quarterfinal round match against Tunisia's Esperance de Tunis (representing Africa).
