RIVER PLATE CAPTURE CONTENTIOUS COPA LIBERTADORES CROWN AFTER OT VICTORY IN MADRID AGAINST BOCA

At Madrid:

In Sunday's second match of the Copa Libertadores Final, which had been originally set for Buenos Aires on November 24, only to be postponed at least twice due to "fan" violence, then moved to Madrid, Lucas Pratto's equalizer in the 64th minute enabled River Plate (the designated hosts) to gain a 1-1 regulation draw with Boca Juniors, deadlocking the series at 3-3 on aggregate.

Then, with the away goals rule dispensed with, Juan Quintero (109') and Gonzalo Martinez (120'+2) each scored an overtime goal as River Plate won the series 5-3 on aggregate.

River Plate will play in the semifinal round of the FIFA Club World Cup at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates next Monday against the winner of Saturday's quarterfinal match between Esperance de Tunis and the winner of Tuesday's opening match between Al-Ain and Team Wellington.
