UEFA Champions League, Group A: Dortmund Capture Top Spot In Group While Mattress Makers Battle Club Brugge To Scoreless Draw In Belgium

The final week of UEFA Champions League group-stage play commenced with eight games---two of them in Group A---on Tuesday.

At Bruges, Belgium:

Club Brugge and guests Atletico Madrid battled to a 0-0 stalemate, which ultimately cost the Spanish club top spot in Group A.

At Fontvieille, Monaco:

Raphael Guerreiro scored twice (15', 88') as Borussia Dortmund blanked AS Monaco 2-0 on the road to snag top spot in Group A.

1. Borussia Dortmund (GP: 6; GD: +8; PTS: 13)
2. Atletico Madrid (GP: 6; GD: +3; PTS: 13)
3. Club Brugge (GP: 6; GD: +1; PTS: 6)
4. AS Monaco (GP: 6; GD: -12; PTS: 1)

NOTE:  Borussia Dortmund had the head-to-head goal differential advantage over Atletico Madrid (+2 to -2)

Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid advanced to the Champions League's knockout stage while Club Brugge qualified for the knockout rounds of the Europa League.
