At Montevideo, Uruguay:
Ricardo Oliveira scored twice (29', 77') as Brazil's Atletico Mineiro gained a series-opening 2-2 road draw with Danubio.
Federico Rodriguez (45'+2) and Sergio Felipe (80') produced the scoring for the Uruguayan club.
At Arequipa, Peru:
Alexis Arias scored the only goal of the match in the 54th minute as Melgar took the measure of visiting Universidad de Chile 1-0 in their series-opening contest.
At La Paz, Bolivia:
Adrian Martinez provided the equalizer in the 81st minute to carry Club Libertad to a series-opening 1-1 road draw with The Strongest.
Marvin Bejarano scored for the hosts in the 59th minute.
