The qualifying stage of the AFC Champions League opened on Tuesday with three games making up the entire opening round of qualifying.
WEST REGION:
At Amman, Jordan:
Jumaa Saeed scored the winning goal in the 68th minute as Al-Kuwait---from Kuwait (where else?)---overcame a two-goal deficit to knock off Al-Wihdat 3-2 on the road to advance to the second qualifying round.
For the Kuwaiti club, their next test will be a road match in Iran against Zob Ahan next Tuesday.
EAST REGION:
At Bacolod, Philippines:
Haung Htet Soe scored the winning goal in the 59th minute as Burma's Yangon United knocked off hosts Ceres-Negros 2-1 on the road to advance to the second qualifying round.
Next up for the Burmese club, a one-game road playoff with Thailand's Chiangrai United next Tuesday.
At Kallang, Singapore:
Alberto Goncalves da Costa, known to one and all as Beto, scored the game winner at 54 minutes as Indonesia's Persija Jakarta upended Home United 3-1 on the road.
Up next for the Indonesian club, a one-game playoff with Australia's Newcastle Jets on the road next Tuesday.
