OFC Champions League: Group-Stage Play Opens

Four games were contested on Sunday as OFC Champions League group-stage play commenced.

GROUP A, with both games contested at Yoshida Stadium, Kone, New Caledonia:

In the opening match, Nigel Dabinyaba scored twice (52', 60') while Raymond Gunemba added another tally in the 81st minute as Toti City (Papua New Guinea) gained a 3-3 draw with AS Tefana.

Farearii Tuteina (1'), Benoit Mathon (33'), and Alvin Tehau (53') each scored once for the Tahitian club.

In the nightcap, Bertrand Kai delivered a hat trick (PK-50', 54', 89') as the host nation's Hienghene Sport busted open what was a scoreless stalemate at halftime and destroyed Vanuatu's Malampa Revivors 5-0.

2. AS Tefana (GP: 1; GD: 0; PTS: 1)

GROUP B, with both matches contested at Churchill Park, Lautoka, Fiji:

In the opener, Lorenzo Tehau scored the winning goal in the 80th minute as Tahiti's Central Sport held on for a 3-2 victory over Henderson Eels from Solomon Islands.

In the nightcap, Zibraaz Sahib scored twice (PK-10', 63') as hosts Lautoka destroyed Morobe Warriors from Papua New Guinea 5-0.

Group B Standings:

2. Central Sport (GP: 1; GD: +1; PTS: 3)
