At Washington:
Marc Burch's own goal at 89 minutes forced the contest into overtime, where Guillermo Barros Schelotto converted a penalty kick (98') lifting the Columbus Crew to a 2-1 road win over DC United.
At Tukwila, Washington:
Nate Jaqua scored twice (10', 90'+2) and Fredy Montero added another score (58') as the Seattle Sounders downed visiting Chivas USA 3-1.
The Crew and Sounders (the latter being the defending titlists) will face off in the final at Qwest Field in Seattle on October 5.

US Open Cup: DC United Makes It An All-MLS Semifinal Field
At Boyds, Maryland:
Thanks to goals courtesy of Branko Boskovic (1') and Thabiso Khumalo (47'), DC United defeated the Harrisburg City Islanders (USL-2; they were last non-MLS club remaining in the tournament) 2-0 to reach the semifinal round of the US Open Cup tournament on Wednesday night.
Both semifinal contests will take place on September 1, with DC United hosting the Columbus Crew at RFK Stadium, while Chivas USA will battle the Seattle Sounders at Tukwila, Washington. The winners will play in the final which will take place on October 5.

US Open Cup: Crew And Goats Advance To Semis
The quarterfinal round of the US Open Cup tournament commenced on Tuesday with two games.
At Columbus, Ohio:
Emilio Renteria (PK-38'), Steven Lenhart (70'), and Eddie Gaven (87') each tallied once as the Columbus Crew dominated the visiting Charleston Battery (USL-2) 3-0.
At Houston:
Justin Braun scored twice (5', 90') as Chivas USA defeated the Houston Dynamo 3-1 on the road.

US Open Cup: DCU, Sounders Advance To Quarterfinals
The Round of 16 in the US Open Cup concluded with two games on Wednesday.
At Fairfax, Virginia:
DC United, thanks to goals courtesy of Jaime Moreno (47') and Santino Quaranta (56'), defeated the Richmond Kickers (USL-2) 2-0.
At Portland, Oregon:
After a 1-1 deadlock through 120 minutes, Seattle Sounders FC won the penalty kick shootout 4-3 on the road over the Portland Timbers (D2 Pro). Nate Jaqua put the Sounders ahead at 13 minutes, but Bright Dike equalized for the Timbers at 38 minutes. After 30 scoreless overtime minutes, Nathan Sturgis, Steve Zakuani, Fredy Montero, and, with the game winner, Zach Scott converted their penalty kicks in the shootout that send Seattle into the quarterfinal round.
For the quarterfinal round, three games will be played next Tuesday:

At Bridgeview, Illinois:

J. T. Noone (97') and Dominic Oppong (119') delivered the overtime goals as the Harrisburg City Islanders (USL-2) defeated the Brooklyn Italians (USASA) 4-2.
At Richmond, Virginia:
Matthew Delicate scored the only goal of the match at 119 minutes as the Richmond Kickers (USL-2) knocked off visiting Crystal Palace Baltimore (USSF Division 2 Pro League, or D2 Pro, which is the second level of soccer in the United States) 1-0 in overtime.
At Bridgeville, Pennsylvania:
Alex Weekes (35') and Adam Gazda (42') each tallied once in the first half as the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL-2) defeated visiting Detroit United (USASA) 2-0.

US Open Cup: Rapids Defeat Wizards In Play-In Game

With goals from Wells Thompson (24', 80'), the Colorado Rapids defeated the Kansas City Wizards 2-1 on the road Tuesday night in the opening game in a series of playoff contests to determine the final two Major League Soccer berths in this year's Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Nine teams from MLS are playing to see which two will join six other MLS clubs in the competition proper.
Six MLS clubs (Chicago, Chivas USA, Columbus, Houston, Los Angeles, and Seattle) have automatically qualified outright for the US Open Cup tournament, as have nine clubs from USSF Division 2 (Austin Aztex, Carolina RailHawks, Crystal Palace Baltimore, Miami FC, NSC Minnesota Stars, Portland Timbers, Rochester Rhinos, AC St. Louis, and Tampa Bay Rowdies), five from USL-2 (Charleston Battery, Charlotte Eagles, Harrisburg City Islanders, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Real Maryland Monarchs, and Richmond Kickers), with eight teams from the Premier Development League, and two from each of the four regions of the US Adult Soccer Association.
