After a 1-1 deadlock in regulation time, Nat Borchers scored a late overtime goal that tied the game for Real Salt Lake at 3-3, RSL won the penalty kick shootout 5-4 and won the game 4-3 to advance in qualifying for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament, defeating the San Jose Earthquakes.
