Revs Capture Series Opener; Two-Match Angelino Derby Starts With 2-2 Draw

The first half of the opening round of the MLS Cup Playoffs concluded Sunday.

At Foxborough, Massachusetts:

Goals from Emmanuel Osei (45') and Shalrie Joseph (75') enabled the New England Revolution to erase an early one-goal deficit as they took the opening match of their two-game Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Chicago Fire 2-1 at home.

At Carson, California:

The opening match of a Western Conference semifinal series ended in a 2-2 stalemate. Maicon Santos (4') and Maykel Galindo (50') each scored once for Chivas USA (the designated host club in the series opener) while Mike Magee (14') and Landon Donovan (41') each tallied once for the Los Angeles Galaxy, who will be the host club in the return match next Sunday.
