CONCACAF Champions League: Caps Knock Out SKC, Advance To Quarterfinals; Pachuca Smash Police United To Bits; Real Esteli and Suchitepequez Draw In Nicaragau

Group-stage play in the CONCACAF Champions League resumed with three games on Tuesday.


At Kansas City, Kansas:

Erik Hurtado (41') and Alphonso Davies (90'+3) each scored once as the Vancouver Whitecaps knocked off Sporting Kansas City 2-1 to become the first club to advance to the quarterfinal round.

Group C Standings:

1. y-Vancouver Whitecaps FC (GP: 3; GD: +5; PTS: 9)
2. z-Sporting Kansas City (GP: 3; GD: -6; PTS: 1)
3. z-Central FC (GP: 2; GD: -1; PTS: 1)

y-Won Group G and clinched berth in quarterfinal round

z-Eliminated from tournament

NOTE:  Sporting Kansas City gained a 2-2 road draw with Central FC on August 16.


At Belmopan, Belize:

Hirving Lozano delivered a quadruple (30', 35', 69', 79') while Ruben Botta (44', 51') and Jose Juaquin Esquivel (73', 85') each scored twice as Pachuca went into Belize and lowered the boom on Police United 11-0.

Group E Standings:

1.    Pachuca (GP: 3; GD: +15; PTS: 9)
2.    CD Olimpia (GP: 2; GD: +3; PTS: 3)
3. z-Police United (GP: 3; GD: -18; PTS: 0)

z-Eliminated from tournament 


At Esteli, Nicaragua:

Amury Escoto's goal in the 49th minute helped guide CD Suchitepequez to a 1-1 road draw with Real Esteli as the Guatemalan club stayed alive in the race for the Group H title and a berth in the quarterfinal round.  Samuel Wilson scored for the already-eliminated Nicaraguan club in the 69th minute.

Group H Standings:

1.   FC Dallas (GP: 2; GD: +1; PTS: 4) 
2.   CD Suchitepequez (GP: 2; GD: +1; PTS: 4)
3. z-Real Esteli (GP: 4; GD: -2; PTS: 2)

z-Eliminated from tournament

NOTE:  With FC Dallas and CD Suchitepequez level on points (4) and goal differential (+1), the Hoops have scored more goals than the club from Guatemala (3-2).  The two teams have yet to have their two games against each other.
