US Open Cup: Busy Wednesday

26 games were contested (one other was postponed) on Wednesday as the opening round proper of the US Open Cup tournament continued.

At Fredericksburg, Virginia:

Pete Caringi delivered a hat trick (5', 46'. 87') as Christos FC from the fifth-division USASA stunned Fredericksburg FC of the fourth-division National Premier Soccer League 3-0 on the road.

At Atlanta:

In a battle of fourth-division clubs, Deon McCaulay scored twice (20', 58') as the Atlanta Silverbacks (NPSL) dominated visiting SC United Bantams (PDL) 4-1.

At San Francisco:

After 120 scoreless minutes, the PDL's Burlingame Dragons upended El Farolito (USASA) 6-5 in the penalty-kick shootout on the road.

At Ludlow, Massachusetts:

After a 1-1 draw in regulation, which was followed by each team scoring once in overtime, Boston City FC (NPSL) defeated the home-standing Western Mass Pioneers (PDL) 7-6 in the penalty-kick shootout.

At Holmdel, New Jersey:

Daniel Guman scored the winning goal in the 109th minute as the USASA's FC Motown scored a 2-1 overtime road victory over New Jersey Copa FC of the NPSL.

At Charlotte, North Carolina:

In a battle of clubs from competing fourth-division leagues, Kevin Omondi (72') and Joao Costa (89') each scored once as the PDL's Charlotte Eagles blanked visiting Chattanooga FC from the NPSL 2-0.

At Browns Summit, North Carolina:

Mamadee Nyepon scored the winning goal in the 57th minute as the Carolina Dynamo (PDL) defeated visiting Legacy 76 (NPSL) 2-1.

At Hialeah, Florida:

In a battle of NPSL clubs, Nacho Calcagno scored the winning goal in the 87th minute as Miami United FC defeated the visiting Boca Raton Football Club 2-1.

At Jacksonville, Florida:

Cameron Grassmyer scored the game winner in the 89th minute as the Jacksonville Armada's under-23 squad (NPSL) defeated visiting The Villages SC (PDL) 2-1.

At Ocean City, New Jersey:

Fredlin Mompremier (4'), Tyler Collishaw (14'), and Akeil Barrett (88') each scored once as the Ocean City Nor'easters (PDL) defeated visiting Junior Lone Star FC (USASA) 3-1.
At Reading, Pennsylvania:

Frantzdy Pierrot scored the only goal of the match in the eighth minute of first-half stoppage time as Reading United AC (PDL) defeated visiting Clarkstown SC Eagles (NPSL) 1-0.

At Pontiac, Michigan:

Andre Landell's goal in the 15th minute proved to be all the scoring as the Michigan Bucks (PDL) downed visiting AFC Ann Arbor (NPSL) 1-0.

At Jeffersonville, Indiana:

After Robert Hueler's equalizer in the 90th minute, enabled Tartan Devils Oak Avalon (USASA) to square their match with the Derby City Rovers (PDL) at 1-1 as regulation expired.  After 30 scoreless overtime minutes, the visitors from Pittsburgh advanced to the second round after winning the penalty-kick shootout 4-3.

At Portland, Maine:

GPS Omens (USASA) knocked off the PDL's GPS Portland Phoenix 2-0 on the road. 

At Wheaton, Illinois:

Chicago FC United (PDL) vs. Grand Rapids FC (NPSL), postponed until Friday at 5:00 PM Pacific Time.

At Conroe, Texas:

The Houston Dutch Lions FC of the NPSL defeated the visiting  NTX Rayados (USASA) 3-1.

At Wichita, Kansas:

Travis Pittman scored the only goal of the match in the 104th minute as FC Wichita of the NPSL defeated visiting ten-man Azteca FC (USASA) 1-0 in overtime.

At West Des Moines, Iowa:

AFC Cleveland of the NPSL knocked off the PDL's Des Moines Menace 3-1 on the road.

At Tulsa, Oklahoma:

After a 1-1 deadlock through 120 minutes, the Oklahoma City Energy's Under-23 (PDL) squad knocked off the NPSL's Tulsa Athletic 4-2 in the penalty-kick shootout.

At Petaluma, California:

After a 1-1 draw through 120 minutes, visiting Anahuac FC (USASA) knocked off the Sonoma County Sol (PDL) 5-4 in the penalty-kick shootout.

At San Diego:

Chula Vista of the USASA knocked off the NPSL's Alboin SC Pros 3-2 on the road.

At Glendora, California:

FC Golden State Force (PDL) blanked visiting Outbreak FC (USASA) 2-0.

At Fresno, California:

Fresno Fuego (PDL) dominated visiting La Maquina FC (USASA) 4-1.

At Ventura, California:

The Moreno Valley Futbol Club (USASA) knocked off the PDL's Ventura County Fusion 2-1 on the road.

At Tucson, Arizona:

FC Tucson (PDL) defeated the visiting Colorado Rush (USASA) 3-1.

At Seattle:

After 120 minutes of scoreless soccer OSA FC (NPSL) won the penalty-kick shootout, knocking off hosts Seattle Sounders FC U23 5-3.

At Azusa, California:

Los Angeles Wolves FC (USASA) doubled up the visiting San Diego Zest (PDL) 4-2.
