US Open Cup: Busy Wednesday

The second round of the US Open Cup tournament concluded on Wednesday with 25 games.

At Atlanta:

Jeffrey Otoo scored the winning goal in the 44th minute as the Charleston Battery (USL) defeated the Atlanta Silverbacks (NPSL) 2-1 on the road.

At Richmond, Virginia:

Christos FC (USASA), with Geaton Caltabiano scoring the only goal of the match in the 79th minute, knocked off the Richmond Kickers (USL) 1-0 on the road.

At Rochester, New York:

Jalen Brown (2'), Jochen Graf (7'), and Rayane Boukemia (85') each scored a goal as the Rochester Rhinos (USL) dominated visiting FC Motown (USASA) 3-0.

At Revere, Massachusetts:

GPS Omens (USASA) knocked off Boston City FC (NPSL) 2-1 on the road.

At Hialeah, Florida:

Aaron Pitchkolan (36') and Jack Blake (PK-42') each scored once as the Jacksonville Armada from the second-division North American Soccer League came from behind to upend Miami United FC (NPSL) 2-1 on the road.

At Browns Summit, North Carolina:

Billy Schuler scored twice (47', 85') as North Carolina FC (NASL; formerly the Carolina Railhawks) destroyed the PDL's Carolina Dynamo 6-1 on the road.

At Charlotte, North Carolina:

In a Queen City derby, Enzo Martinez scored twice in the final quarter-hour (PK-77', 88') as the Charlotte Independence (USL) came from behind to upend the Charlotte Eagles (PDL) 3-2 on the road.

At Pittsburgh:

Cameron Lancaster scored twice (55', 83') as Louisville City FC (USL) nuked Tartan Devils Oak Avalon (USASA) 9-0.

At Cincinnati:

In a Buckeye State derby, Djiby Fall scored the only goal of the match in the 117th minute as FC Cincinnati of the USL defeated visiting AFC Cleveland (NPSL) 1-0 in overtime.

At Coral Gables, Florida:

Miami FC (NASL), with Jaime Chavez scoring the winning goal in the 79th minute, defeated the visiting South Florida Surf (PDL) 3-2.

At Pontiac, Michigan:

Francis Atuahene scored the only goal of the match in the 38th minute as the PDL's Michigan Bucks knocked off the NASL's Indy Eleven 1-0 at home.

At Reading, Pennsylvania:

Frantzdy Pierrot scored the winning goal in the 45th minute as Reading United AC (PDL) knocked off the visiting New York Cosmos (NASL) 3-2.

At Ocean City, New Jersey:

After 120 scoreless minutes, the USL's Harrisburg City Islanders won the penalty-kick shootout 6-5 on the road against the PDL's Ocean City Nor'easters.

At Evanston, Illinois:

Chicago FC United (PDL) upset the visiting Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL) 3-1.

At Wichita, Kansas:

Jose Angulo scored twice (72', 95') as Saint Louis FC (USL) defeated FC Wichita 4-3 (NPSL) on the road in overtime.

At Conroe, Texas:

Aly Hassan scored the winning goal in the 40th minute to carry San Antonio FC (USL) to a 2-1 road win over the Houston Dutch Lions (NPSL).

At Tulsa, Oklahoma:

Cristian Mata (13', 49') and Pavel Kondrakhin (45'+2, 53') each scored twice as the Tulsa Roughnecks defeated the visiting Oklahoma City Engergy Under-23 squad 5-3 in a battle of USL clubs.

At Norman, Oklahoma:

Alex Dixon scored twice (17', 69') as the Oklahoma City Energy demolished the visiting Moreno Valley Futbol Club (USASA) 5-1.

At Colorado Springs, Colorado:

Jun Gyeong Park (46') and Kevaughn Frater (48') each scored a second-half goal two minutes apart as the Colorado Springs Switchbacks (USL) defeated visiting Tucson FC (PDL) 2-0.

At Fresno, California:

Eric Avila scored the winning goal in the 35th minute as Phoenix Rising FC (USL) defeated the Fresno Fuego (PDL) 3-1 on the road.

At Glendora, California:

Wuilito Totti scored twice (46', 55') as Orange County SC (USL) defeated FC Golden State Force (PDL) 5-2 on the road.

At Azusa, California:

In a battle of USASA clubs, Paolo Cardozo scored the only goal of the match in the 110th minute on a successful penalty kick as the Los Angeles Wolves defeated visiting Chula Vista FC 1-0 in overtime.

At Sacramento, California:

Harry Williams scored twice (12', 15') in the first quarter hour as the USL's Sacramento Republic demolished visiting Anahuac FC from the USASA 4-0.

At Stanford, California:

Tom Heinemann scored the game winner in the 62nd minute as the San Francisco Deltas (NASL) defeated the visiting Burlingame Dragons (PDL) 2-1.

At Tukwila, Washington:

After a 1-1 draw in regulation, followed by 30 scoreless overtime minutes, Reno 1868 FC (USL) won the penalty-kick shootout 4-3 on the road over OSA FC (who were the last remaining NPSL club left in the tournament as a very bad night for one of the two fourth-division leagues came to an end).
