MLS: Hoops and SKC Win On Three-Draw Saturday

Five Major League Soccer contests were played on Saturday.


At Chester, Pennsylvania:


Goals from Perry Kitchen (OG-49') and Carlos Ruiz (84') carried the Philadelphia Union to a 2-2 road draw with DC United.  Josh Wolff (44', assisted by Dwayne De Rosario in his first match with United following his Monday trade from New York) and Andy Najar (58') provided the scoring for the hosts


At Frisco, Texas:


With Brek Shea (57') and Jackson Goncalves (76') providing the scoring and Kevin Hartman making five saves for his second straight shutout and ninth of the season, FC Dallas blanked the visiting Columbus Crew 2-0.


At Carson, California:


Nick LaBrocca's equalizer at 46 minutes salvaged a 1-1 home deadlock for Chivas USA against the Chicago Fire (Dominic Oduro at 26 minutes).


At Palo Alto, California:


Joel Lindpere scored twice (7', 84') as the New York Red Bulls gained a 2-2 road draw with the San Jose Earthquakes in front of a crowd of 41, 028 fans, the largest ever for the Quakes in a non-doubleheader match.  Khari Stephenson (36') and Steven Lenhart (67') provided the San Jose goals.


At Portland, Oregon:


First half goals from C. J. Sapong (14') and Aurelien Collin (18') enabled Sporting Kansas City to hold off the home standing Portland Timbers 2-1, stretching Portland's winless streak to six games.
