2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying (CONCACAF): Curacao, Dominican Republic, US Virgin Islands, Barbados, Saint Lucia Eliminated

The second round of qualifying (CONCACAF region) for the 2014 FIFA World Cup resumed with eleven games played on Friday.


Group A:


At San Cristobal, Dominican Republic:


Osael Romero (PK-38') and Lester Blanco (67') each scored once as El Salvador defeated the Dominican Republic 2-1 on the road.


At George Town, Cayman Islands:


Giovanni Drenthe scored the lone goal of the match in the 57th minute as Suriname eliminated the Cayman Islands (as well as the Dominican Republic, who lost earlier at home to El Salvador) from contention with a 1-0 win on the road.


GROUP A STANDINGS:

2. Suriname (GP: 3; GD: +2; PTS: 7)

Group B:


At Bridgetown, Barbados:


Anthony Abrams (73') and Chris Nurse (87') provided the scoring as Guyana eliminated Barbados from contention with a 2-0 road win.


At Hamilton, Bermuda:


Antwan Russell (53') and  Nahki Wells (63') provided the scoring that enabled Bermuda to hold off visiting Trinidad and Tobago 2-1.

Group C:


At Roseau, Dominica:


Amir Waithe scored twice (26', 88') as Panama demolished Dominica 5-0 on the road to open up a three-point lead atop Group C.

2. Nicaragua (GP: 2; GD: +1; PTS: 3)
3. Dominica (GP: 2; GD: -7; PTS: 0)


Group D:


At Gros Islet, Saint Lucia:


Simeon Jackson delivered a first-half hat trick (19', 27', 39) while Oliver Occean (35', 52') and Iain Hume (73', 86') each added a double as Canada eliminated Saint Lucia from contention with a 7-0 road annihilation of the islanders.


At Bayamon, Puerto Rico:


Puerto Rico avoided elimination with a 1-1 home draw with Saint Kitts and Nevis.  Andres Cabrero scored in the 34th minute for the hosts while Ian Lake equalized for the visitors in the 58th minute.

2. Saint Kitts and Nevis (GP: 3; GD: +2; PTS: 5)
3. Puerto Rico (GP: 3; GD: -3; PTS: 2)

Group E:


At Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines:


Mario Rodriguez scored twice (44', 57') as Guatemala overpowered Saint Vincent and the Grenedines 3-0 on the road to open up a commanding lead atop the Group E standings.


At Belmopan, Belize:


Grenada delivered a 4-1 road beat down on Grenada.

1. Guatemala (GP: 3; GD: +8; PTS: 9)
2. Grenada (GP: 3; GD: -1; PTS: 3)
3. Belize (GP: 3; GD: -1; PTS: 3)

Group F:


At Frederiksted, St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands:


Jean-Eudes Maurice provided a hat trick (5', PK-65', 82') and Reginal Goreux added a pair in the second half (57', 64') as Haiti demolished the US Virgin Islands 7-0 on the road, eliminating the hosts from contention.


At Willemstad, Curacao:


Tamarley Thomas provided the lone goal of the match in the 74th minute as Antigua and Barbuda kept pace with the Haitians atop Group F following their 1-0 road win over Curacao, eliminating the hosts from any shot at advancing to the third qualifying round.
