Europa League Playoff Round: Nerazzurri, Magpies, Bordeaux Advance To Group Stage

The playoff round for Europa League group-stage berths concluded with 30 games played on Thursday.

At Tbilisi, Georgia:

Heldon (42') and Danilo Dias (90'+3) each scored a goal as CS Maritimo blanked Dila Gori 2-0 on the road in game two and won their two-match series 3-0 on aggregate.

At Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine:

Oleksandr Aliyev converted two penalty kicks (12', 59') as Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk doubled up visiting Slovan Liberec 4-2 in game two and won their series 6-4 on aggregate.

At Nicosia, Cyprus:

Thanks to goals from Rashad Sadigov (22'), Julius Wobay (30'), and Flavio Alex Valencio (60'), Neftchi Baku defeated APOEL FC 3-1 on the road in game two and eliminated the Cypriot club who reached last season's Champions League quarterfinal round 4-2 on aggregate.

At Helsinki, Finland:

Mikel San Jose (67'), Gaizka Toquero (77'), and Igor Martinez (88') each scored a goal as Athletic Bilbao gained a 3-3 game-two road draw with HJK Helsinki and knocked out the Finnish club 9-3 on aggregate.

At Heerenveen, Netherlands:

Molde FK, with Jo Inge Berget (54') and Papa Pate Diouf (73') delivering the tallies, topped SC Heerenveen 2-1 on the road in game two and won their two-match series 4-1 on aggregate.

At Tel Aviv, Israel:

Hanan Maman scored twice (68', 84') as Hapoel Tel Aviv overpowered visiting F91 Dudelange 4-0 in match two and finished their two-game beatdown of the Luxembourgian club 7-1 on aggregate.

At Moscow:

Kwame Karikari (6') and Martin Lorentzson (90'+3) provided the scoring as AIK Solna overturned their 1-0 home defeat from last week with a 2-0 game-two road victory over CSKA Moscow, enabling the Swedish club to take the series 2-1 on aggregate.

At Trondheim, Norway:

Tore Reginiussen (69') and Mikkel Diskerud (87') provided the scoring as Rosenborg topped visiting Legia Warsaw 2-1 in game two and won their two-match series 3-2 on aggregate.

At Eindhoven, Netherlands:

Hat tricks from Tim Matavz (15', 27', 63') and Georginio Wijnaldum (39', 66', 83'), as well as a double courtesy of Peter Van Ooijen (12', 74') carried PSV Eindhoven to a 9-0 home nuking of FK Zeta in game two and finished their two-contest napalming of the Montenegrin club 14-0 on aggregate.

At Bern, Switzerland:

Despite dropping a 2-0 home decision in game two, BSC Young Boys still won their two-match series with FC Midtjylland 3-2 on aggregate.

At Prague, Czech Republic:

Vaclav Kadlec (PK-61') and Jiri Jarosik (70') each delivered a goal as Sparta Prague blanked visiting Feyenoord Rotterdam 2-0 in game two and took out the Dutch club 4-2 on aggregate.

At Bucharest, Romania:

Adi Rocha scored twice (21', 86') as Steaua Bucharest got the better of visiting Ekranas 3-0 in game two and took the two-match series and took out the Lithuanian club 5-0 on aggregate.

At Kharkiv, Ukraine:

Sebastian Blanco (28') and Jonathan Cristaldo (61') provided the goals as FC Metalist Kharkiv downed visiting Dinamo Bucharest 2-1 in game two and won their two-match series 4-1 on aggregate.

At Genk, Belgium:

Thanks to goals in the second half from Dani Fernandez (56') and Ayub Masika (88'), KRC Genk bounced back from their 2-1 road loss last week in Switzerland with a 2-0 home win over Lucerne FC, enabling the Belgian club to win their two-match set 3-2 on aggregate.

At Plzen, Czech Republic:

Marek Batos provided the only goal of the match in the 37th minute as FC Viktoria Plzen defeated visiting KSC Lokeren 1-0 in game two, and with the aggregate score at 2-2, advanced on away goals.

At Bruges, Belgium:

Jim Larsen (25'), Victor Vazquez (48'), Mohammed Tchite (50'), and Carlos Bacca (66') each scored a goal as Club Brugge dominated visiting Debreceni VSC 4-1 in game two and finished off the Hungarian club 7-1 on aggregate.

At Marseilles, France:

A 0-0 home draw with FC Sheriff Tiraspol in game two was good enough for Marseille as the French club won their two-match series 2-1 on aggregate.

At Szekesfeharvar, Hungary:

After another scoreless match between Videoton and visiting Trabzonspor (followed by 30 scoreless minutes of overtime), Marco Caneira, Alvaro Brachi, Adam Gyurcso, and Nikola Mitrovic all converted their spot kicks as the hosts won the penalty-kick shootout 4-2 to advance to the group stage.

At Bordeaux, France:

Yoan Gouffran scored twice (53', 90'+3) as Bordeaux stunned visiting Red Star Belgrade 3-2 in game two to advance to the group stage by that same score on aggregate.  Yoan's second goal came one minute after Nikola Mikic had scored to make it 2-2----and apparently send the Serbian club to the group stage via the away goals rule.

At Belgrade, Serbia:

Ivan Ivanov scored the only goal of the match in the 75th minute as Partizan Belgrade defeated visiting Tromso IL 1-0 in game two, and with the aggregate score at 3-3, advanced to the group stage on away goals.

At Milan, Italy:

Rodrigo Palacio (76') and Fredy Guarin (90'+2) provided the tallies and Inter Milan settled for a 2-2 game-two home deadlock with FC Vaslui, good enough for the Nerazzurri to eliminate the Romanian club 4-2 on aggregate.

At Hanover, Germany:

Szabolcs Huszti (35', 88') and Lasse Sobiech (68', 85') each scored twice as Hannover 96 hammered visiting Slask Wroclaw 5-1 in game two and finished off the Polish club 10-4 on aggregate.

At Valencia, Spain:

Fanis Gekas scored the only goal of the match in the 72nd minute as Levante blanked visiting Motherwell 1-0 in game two and finished off the Scottish club 3-0 on aggregate.

At Vienna, Austria:

Deni Alar (31'), Terrance Boyd (48'), and Steffen Hofmann (90'+3) each scored a goal as Rapid Vienna bounced back from their game-one road loss with a 3-0 home domination in game two with PAOK FC, enabling them to win their two-match series 4-2on aggregate.

At Alkmaar, Netherlands:

Mbark Boussoufa scored the only goal of the match as FC Anzhi Makhachkala won game two, 1-0 on the road over AZ Alkmaar, and won their two-game series 5-0 on aggregate.

At Newcastle upon Tyne, England:

Haris Vuckic scored the only goal of the match in the 21st minute as Newcastle United defeated visiting Atromitros 1-0 in game two and one their two-match series 2-1 on aggregate.

At Rome:

Libor Kozak scored twice (30', 55') as Lazio defeated visiting ND Mura 05 1-0 in game two and won their series with the Slovenian club 5-1 on aggregate.

At Enschede, Netherlands:

Leroy Fer scored twice, once on a penalty kick in the 26th minute as FC Twente took game two 3-1 at home over Bursaspor, deadlocking the two-match series at 4-4 on aggregate after exchanging 3-1 home wins, then scored the series winner in overtime (116') as the hosts won the series 5-4 on aggregate.

At Liverpool, England:

Luis Suarez scored in the 85th minute as Liverpool gained a 1-1 game-two home draw with Heart of Midlothian and won their two-game series 2-1 on aggregate.

At Lisbon, Portugal:

Ricky van Wolfswinkel scored twice (8', 54') each scored a goal as Sporting CP demolished visiting Horsens 5-0 and won their two-match series 6-1 on aggregate.

The winners (as well as clubs who lost their Champions League playoff-round series) will be present for Friday's Europa League group-stage draw, to take place in Monaco.
