UEFA Champions League Playoff Round: Game-One Wins For Spartak Moscow, CFR Cluj, Bhoys, Dynamo Kiev, Copenhagen

The playoff round for UEFA Champions League group stage berths commenced on Tuesday with the opening contest of each of five two-game series.

At Moscow:

Emmanuel Emenike (59') and Dmitri Kombarov (69') each scored a goal as Spartak Moscow took the opening match of their two-game series with Fenerbahce 2-1.  Ex-Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt kept the visiting Yellow Canaries alive in the series with his 65th-minute tally.

At Basel, Switzerland:

Modou Sougou scored twice during a five-minute second-half span (66', 71') as CFR Cluj came from behind to upend FC Basel 2-1 on the road in game one.

At Helsingborg, Sweden:

Kris Commons (2') and Georgios Samaras (75') provided the scoring touch as Celtic took match one with Helsingborg 2-0 on the road.

At Monchengladbach, Germany:

With Taras Mykhalyk (28') and Andriy Yarmolenko (36') providing goals, Dynamo Kiev find themselves 90 minutes away from the group stage following their 3-1 series-opening road win against Borussia Monchengladbach.

At Copenhagen, Denmark:

Cesar Santin scored the only goal of the match in the 38th minute as FC Copenhagen downed visiting LOSC Lille Metropole 1-0 in their series opener.
