Ali Maaloul scored twice (56', PK-68') as Al-Ahly blanked visiting Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 in the opening game of their series.
At Casablanca, Morocco:
Mohammed Nahiri scored twice (11', 54') as Wydad Casablanca opened their series with Etoile du Sahel by blanking the visiting Tunisian club 2-0.
