At Asuncion, Paraguay:
Federico Carrizo scored the series-winning goal in the 61st minute as Cerro Porteno defeated visiting Universitario 1-0 in game two and ousted the Peruvian club 2-1 on aggregate.
At Santiago, Chile:
Carlos Farias scored twice (34', 76') as Palestino demolished visiting Cerro Largo 5-1 in game two and finished off the Uruguayan club 6-2 on aggregate.
At Tucuman, Argentina:
After blanking The Strongest 2-0 at home in regulation of game two, thus squaring their series at 2-2 on aggregate (with each team winning 2-0 at home), and with overtime dispensed with, Atletico Tucuman, with spot kicks converted by Ramiro Carrera, Cristian Lucchetti, Augusto Lotti, Federico Bravo, Jose Fernandez, and Marcelo Ortiz, won the penalty-kick shootout with the Bolivian club 6-5 and advanced to the playoff round.
At Sao Paulo, Brazil:
Fernando Fernandez scored the series-winning goal in the 53rd minute as Club Guarani, despite dropping a 2-1 game-two road decision to Corinthians, won their series with the Brazilian club on away goals with the aggregate score at 2-2.
