Copa Libertadores

Group-stage in the Copa Libertadores resumed on Tuesday with six games.


GROUP C:


At Montevideo, Uruguay:


Matias Britos scored the game winner in the 81st minute as Penarol locked up a berth in the second stage of the Copa Sudamericana (South America's answer to the Europa League) after their 3-2 home win over Athletico Paranaense, who still will play in the Copa Libertadores' Round of 16.


At Santiago, Chile:


Moises Villarroel scored the only goal of the match in the 88th minute as Jorge Wilstermann knocked off Colo-Colo 1-0 on the road to lay claim to a berth in the tournament's knockout stage.


Final Group C Standings:


1. Jorge Wilstermann (GP: 6; GD: +3; PTS: 10)

2. Athletico Paranaense (GP: 6; GD: +2; PTS: 10)

3. Penarol (GP: 6; GD: +1; PTS: 9)

4. Colo-Colo (GP: 6; GD: -6; PTS: 6)


Jorge Wilstermann and Athletico Paranaense advanced to the Copa Libertadores' knockout stage; Penarol qualified for the second stage of the Copa Sudamericana.




GROUP D:


At Avellaneda, Argentina:


Rafael Borre (53'), Julian Alvarez (60'), and Jorge Carrascal (89') each scored once as River Plate dominated visiting LDU Quito 3-0 and copped top spot in Group D.


At Sao Paulo, Brazil:


Pablo Felipe Teixeira scored twice (51', 85') as Sao Paulo demolished visiting Binacional 5-1.  The Brazilian club will play in the Copa Sudamericana's second stage.


Final Group D Standings:


1. River Plate (GP: 6; GD: +15; PTS: 13)

2. LDU Quito (GP: 6; GD: +4; PTS: 12)

3. Sao Paulo FC (GP: 6; GD: +3; PTS: 7)

4. Binacional (GP: 6; GD: -22; PTS: 3)


River Plate and LDU Quito advanced to the Copa Libertadores' knockout stage; Sao Paulo FC qualified for the second stage of the Copa Sudamericana.




GROUP G:


At Asuncion, Paraguay:


Agustin Ale scored the only goal of the match in the 81st minute as Delfin knocked off Club Olimpia 1-0 on the road to jump the hosts (and Defensa y Justica) to clinch a berth in the tournament's knockout stage and ending the Paraguayan club's South American campaign. 


At Santos, Brazil:


Marcos Leonardo's goal at the death (90'+1) carried knockout-stage-bound Santos To a 2-1 home win over Defensa y Justica, who will play in the Copa Sudamericana's second stage.


Final Group G Standings:


1. Santos (GP: 6; GD: +5; PTS: 16)

2. Delfin (GP: 6; GD: -1; PTS: 7)

3. Defensa y Justica (GP: 6; GD: -2; PTS: 6)

4. Club Olimpia (GP: 6; GD: -2; PTS: 5)


Santos and Delfin advanced to the group stage; Defensa y Justica qualified for the second stage of the Copa Libertadores.
