MLS: Wednesday Wins For Herons, Reds, Philly, Impact, NYC FC, Dynamo, Sporting KC, Sounders, Timbers, Quakes

Eleven games (all to be streamed live on ESPN+) are on the docket for Wednesday in Major League Soccer.

At Atlanta:


Atlanta United and visiting Orlando City battled to a 0-0 stalemate.


At Harrison, New Jersey:


Gonzalo Higuain's first MLS goal in the 81st minute was the game winner as Inter Miami knocked off the New York Red Bulls 2-1 on the road.


At Foxborough, Massachusetts:


Ayo Akinola scored the only goal of the match in the 29th minute as Toronto FC took over first place in the Eastern Conference (and the lead in the Supporters' Shield race) with their 1-0 road win over the New England Revolution.


At Chester, Pennsylvania:


Ilshinho (59'), Alejandro Bedoya (73'), and Jack Elliot (80') each produced a second-half goal as the Philadelphia Union broke open what was a scoreless deadlock and ran away from visiting FC Cincinnati 3-0.


At Columbus, Ohio:


Bojan converted a penalty kick in the 74th minute for the game winner as the Montreal Impact upended the Columbus Crew 2-1 on the road.


At New York:


Ismael Tajouri-Shradi scored twice (55', 63') as New York City, in their first match of the season in the Bronx, dominated visiting DC United 4-1.


At Houston:


Darwin Quintero (20') and Darwin Ceran (PK-43') each scored once as the Houston Dynamo won the Texas Derby 2-0 over visiting FC Dallas.


At Kansas City, Kansas:


Winston Reid's goal in the 67th minute was enough for Sporting Kansas City as the hosts doused the Chicago Fire 1-0.


At Seattle:


Jordan Morris (28') and Yelmar Gomez Andrade (61') each scored once as the Seattle Sounders held off visiting Real Salt Lake 2-1.


At Carson, California:


Felipe Mora (14', 60') and Jeremy Ebobisse (23', 80') each scored twice (once in each half) as the Portland Timbers equaled an MLS-era franchise single-game scoring record in their 6-3 road overpowering of the Los Angeles Galaxy.


The Timbers have gone unbeaten in their last six games, winning five of them while currently riding a four-game winning streak.


At San Jose, California:


Cristian Espinoza (50'), Andy Rios (66'), and Paul Marie (90'+3) each scored once as the San Jose Earthquakes won their third straight game, dominating the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0.
