US Open Cup: Busy Wednesday

25 games were contested on Wednesday as the first round of the US Open Cup concluded.

At Ypsilanti, Michigan:

Williams N'Dah (10'), Simone Raioli (27'), and Fredinho Mompremier (52') each scored once as the PDL's Ocean City Nor'easters dominated AFC Ann Arbor (NPSL) 3-0 on the road.

At Miami:

Miami FC 2 (NPSL), with Kris Tyrpak scoring twice (22', 45') in the first half, demolished visiting Red Force FC (Local Qualifiers; United States Adult Soccer Association, in the fifth level of American Soccer) 4-0.

At Ludlow, Massachusetts:

The NPSL's Elm City Express, with Anthony Asante scoring twice (23', 82"0, knocked off the Western Mass Pioneers (PDL) vs. Elm City Express (NPSL) 2-1 on the road.

At Madison, New Jersey:

Dilly Duka (remember him, Chicago Fire fans?) scored twice (34', 45') as FC Motown (NPSL) knocked off the New York Red Bulls' U-23 squad (PDL) 2-1 at home.

At Reading, Pennsylvania:

After a 1-1 draw through 120 minutes, Reading United AC (PDL), with Aaron Molloy, Sebastian Hauret, Thibault Chretien, Alex Lipinski, and Kieren Roberts (whose goal in the 59th minute of regulation forced overtime in the first place) converting their spot kicks, won the penalty-kick shootout against visiting Christos FC (Local Qualifiers; USASA) 5-4.

At Erie, Pennsylvania:

After a 1-1 deadlock through 120 minutes, Erie Commodores FC (NPSL) won the penalty-kick shootout over the visiting  Rochester Lancers (Local Qualifiers; NPSL) 4-3.

At Montverde, Florida:

The Jacksonville Armada, playing this season in the NPSL, defeated the SIMA Aguilas (PDL) 2-0 on the road.  The Armada got goals through the courtesy of Joshua Castellanos (53') and Conor Doyle (76').

At Hialeah, Florida:

Miami United (NPSL), with David Ochoa delivering a hat trick (31', 42', 73'),  defeated visiting FC Kendall (Local Qualifiers; USASA) 5-2.

At Matthews, North Carolina:


Inter Nashville (NPSL) destroyed the PDL's Charlotte Eagles 6-1 on the road.  Chuka Aruh produced a hat trick (4', 6', 35') while Ivan Sakou added a double (45'+, 85').


At Little River, South Carolina:

In an all-PDL battle, the South Georgia Tormenta, with Toni Soler scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute,  defeated the Myrtle Beach Mutiny 2-1 on the road.

At Amesbury, Massachusetts:

After a 2-2 draw at the end of regulation, followed by 30 scoreless overtime minutes, the Seacoast United Phantoms (PDL) took the penalty-kick shootout over the visiting Kendall Wanderers (Local qualifiers) 6-5.

At Hamtrack, Michigan:


Following a 1-1 stalemate through 120 minutes, Detroit City (NPSL) advanced to the second round following their 6-5 penalty-kick shootout triumph over the visiting Michigan Bucks (PDL).

At Brooklyn, New York:

The Lansdowne Bhoys FC (Local Qualifiers; USASA) blanked the Brooklyn Italians (NPSL) 2-0 on the road.


At Massapequa Park, New York:

It took overtime, but the Long Island Rough Riders (PDL) ended up doubling up visiting Kingston Stockade FC (NPSL) 6-3.


Tyler Botte (56', 114') and Charlie Ledula (112', 120'+2) each scored twice for the hosts.


At New Orleans:

After a 1-1 draw through regulation and overtime, Mississippi Brilla (PDL) took out the New Orleans Jesters (NPSL) 3-2 in the penalty-kick shootout on the road.

At Wichita, Kansas:

FC Wichita (NPSL), with Leonardo Sosa scoring twice (38', 39') defeated the Oklahoma City Energy's under-23 squad (PDL) 3-1 at home.

At Duluth, Minnesota:

After a 4-4 draw after regulation, followed by 30 minutes of scoreless overtime, Duluth FC defeated visiting Dakota Fusion FC 3-0 in the penalty-kick shootout to climax a battle of NPSL clubs.

At Midland, Texas:

The Midland-Odessa Sockers (NPSL), with goals from Xavier Lao (PK-33', Peter Dominguez (39'), and Jhonathan Valazquez (44'), dominated the visiting  Lakeland Tropics (PDL) 3-0.

At Dallas:

NTX Rayados (Local Qualifiers; USASA), with Christian Okeke scored the winning goal in the 114th minute, defeated the visiting Fort Worth Vaqueros (NPSL) 2-1 in overtime.

At Oakland, California:

With Aaron Lombardi (44'), Matthew Hurlow-Paonessa (45'), Jordan Hughes (80'), and Armand Bagramyan (90') each scoring once, San Francisco City FC (PDL) demolished CD Aguiluchos USA (NPSL) 4-0 on the road.

At Westminster, Colorado:

FC Denver (Local Qualifiers; United States Specialty Sports Association, in the fifth level of American soccer), with Cesar Castillo delivering a hat trick (29', 54', 90'+17), doubled up visiting Azteca FC (Local Qualifiers) 4-2.

At Whittier, California:

FC Golden State Force (PDL) defeated visiting Los Angeles Wolves FC (Local Qualifiers; USASA) 3-1.

At Irvine, California:

Orange County FC (NPSL) dominated visiting Santa Ana Winds FC (Local Qualifiers; USASA), 3-0.

At Mesa, Arizona:

Jon Guse scored the only goal of the match in the 73rd minute as Sporting Arizona FC (Local Qualifiers; USASA) upended FC Arizona (NPSL) 1-0 on the road.

At Tucson, Arizona:

Alejandro Gonzalez scored the winning goal in the 55th minute as FC Tucson (PDL) defeated visiting La Maquina FC (Local Qualifiers; USASA)2-1.
