Red Bulls, Rapids Clinch Playoff Berths

Four games were on the Major League Soccer docket on Saturday:

At East Rutherford, New Jersey:

Amado Guevara scored a hat trick as the New York Red Bulls defeated the visiting Kansas City Wizards 3-2, thus overtaking the Wizards to clinch the fourth and final Eastern Conference playoff berth. Details here.

At Houston:

Jacob Peterson scored the equalizer in the 88th minute to give the Colorado Rapids a playoff-berth-clinching 3-3 road draw against the playoff-bound Houston Dynamo. The Colorado draw eliminated Real Salt Lake from playoff contention. Details here.

At Foxborough (or is it Foxboro), Massachusetts:

Khano Smith, in the 87th minute, scored his first goal of the season, and the only goal in the playoff-bound New England Revolution's 1-0 home win over the Columbus Crew. Details here.

At Carson, California:

Not playing like a team whose playoff hopes ended last week, the homestanding Los Angeles Galaxy put on an offensive barrage, with Landon Donovan scoring twice and Cobi Jones scoring once and assisting twice in the Galaxy's 5-2 season-ending win over Western Conference regular season winners FC Dallas.
