Revs, Rapids, Win Playoff Series

Two games Saturday in Major League Soccer playoff action:

At Foxboro, Massachusetts:
Taylor Twellman scored the winning goal in the penalty kick shootout as the New England Revolution won the shootout 4-2, after the two-game total-goals Eastern Conference semifinal series ended 2-2 on aggregate. The Revs now will face the winner of the DC United-New York series in the Eastern Confernece final next weekend.

At Frisco, Texas:
Colorado Rapids goalie Joe Cannon, in the sixth round of the penalty-kick shootout, saved Dario Sala's shot, then Pablo Mastroeni scored on the Rapids final kick as Colorado stunned FC Dallas 5-4 in the penalty kick after the two sides' two-game, total goals Western Conference semifinal series had ended 3-3 on aggregate, before each team scored once in overtime to force the shootout. The Rapids will face the winner of the Chivas USA-Houston series in the Western Conference final next Saturday on the road.
