MLS: Red Bulls, DCU, Fire, Dynamo, Sounders, Quakes Grab Saturday Wins; Timbers Settle For Cascadia Cup Home Draw With Caps; Rapids and RSL Draw, Too

Eight games were played in Major League Soccer on Saturday.

At Kansas City, Kansas:

Jonny Steele (27'), Fabian Espindola (63'), and Lloyd Sam (69') each scored a goal as the New York Red Bulls took over first place in the Eastern Conference following their 3-2 road win over Sporting Kansas City.

At Washington:

Luis Silva (19'), Conor Doyle (68'), and Jared Jeffrey (90'+3) provided the scoring as DC United knocked off the visiting Montreal Impact 3-1.

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Mike Magee scored the winning goal in the 75th minute as the Chicago Fire defeated the Philadelphia Union 2-1 on the road.

At Commerce City, Colorado:

Deshorn Brown (9') and Jaime Alberto Castrillon (70') each scored a goal as the Colorado Rapids salvaged a 2-2 home draw with Real Salt Lake, whose scoring came through the courtesy of Ned Grabavoy (2') and Alvaro Saborio (PK-21').  The draw enabled the Rapids to win the Rocky Mountain Cup for the first time in seven years.

At Houston:

Brad Davis (PK-10'), Will Bruin (31'), and Cameron Weaver (85') each tallied once as the Houston Dynamo defeated the visiting Columbus Crew 3-1.

At Santa Clara, California:

Chris Wondolowski scored both goals (45', 87') in the San Jose Earthquakes' 2-0 home blanking of ten-man Chivas USA.

At Seattle:

Obafemi Martins (8'), Eddie Johnson (22'), and Brad Evans (PK-90'+4) delivered the goals as the Seattle Sounders, who before the match introduced Clint Dempsey (late of Tottenham Hotspur) as their new designated player,  dominated visiting, slumping FC Dallas 3-0, stretching their home unbeaten streak to nine games.

At Portland, Oregon:

Jordan Harvey's equalizer in the 69th minute lifted the Vancouver Whitecaps to a 1-1 Cascadia Cup road draw with the Portland Timbers, whose goal came in the 49th minute from Ryan Johnson.
