CONCACAF Champions League: Queretaro Blank DC United While Champs Gain Series-Opening Road Draw With Sounders As Knockout Stage Starts

The knockout stage---------namely, the quarterfinal round------of the CONCACAF Champions League commenced with two games on Tuesday.

At Queretano, Mexico:

Yerson Candelo (71') and Edgar Benitez (83') each scored a goal as Queretaro blanked DC United 2-0 at home in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Seattle:

Darwin Quintero (45') and Oribe Peralta (70') each scored once as Club America battled back from two one-goal deficits to gain a 2-2 series-opening road draw with the Seattle Sounders.  Clint Dempsey contributed both of the Sounders' goals in the 44th and 52nd minutes.
