2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying (UEFA): Russia, Bosnia, Spain, England Punch Tickets For Brazil

The group stage of European (UEFA) qualifying for next year's World Cup concluded on Tuesday as four teams qualified automatically.

At Baku, Azerbaijan:

Roman Shirokov scored in the 16th minute for Russia as the visitors gained a 1-1 draw with Azerbaijan and clinched first place in Group F and punched their ticket for Brazil.  This will be the Russians' first finals appearance since 2002, their third overall since the demise of the Soviet Union.

At Kaunas, Lithuania:

Vedad Ibisevic scored the only goal of the match in the 68th minute as Bosnia and Herzegovina locked up their first-ever finals appearance as an independent country with their 1-0 road win over Lithuania.  The Bosnians, whose team is nicknamed the Dragons, though tied with Greece to first place in Group G, won the group due to superior goal differential (+24 to +8).

At London:

Wayne Rooney (41') and Steven Gerrard (88') provided the scoring as England secured their place in next year's World Cup by blanking visiting Poland 2-0 as the Three Lions locked up the Group H title as they will make their 14th World Cup Finals appearance. 

At Albacete, Spain:

Alvaro Negredo (26') and Juan Mata (61') each scored a goal as Spain punched their ticket for Brazil with their 2-0 win over visiting Georgia as the defending world champions clinched top spot in Group I as the Spaniards will be preparing for their 14th World Cup Finals appearance.
