OFC Champions League: Tupap, Kiwi Take Prelim Openers

At Pago Pago, American Samoa:

Campbell Best (10'), Grover Harmon (83'), and Home Fowler (87') each scored a goal on Tuesday as Tupapa Maraerenga (Cook Islands) dominated Lotoha'apai United (Tonga) 3-0 as the preliminary round for a berth in the expanded group stage in the OFC Champions League got under way.  All games in this round are being played at Pago Pago.

On Wednesday, Joseph Gaughan (PK-14', 30', 66') delivered a hat trick and Adam Cowan (23', 39') doubled as Kiwi FC of Samoa manhandled hosts Pago Youth 5-1 in a match that was delayed from Tuesday due to bad weather conditions.

PRELIMINARY GROUP STANDINGS:

1. Kiwi FC (GP: 1; GD: +4; PTS: 3)
2. Tupapa Maraerenga (GP: 1; GD: +3; PTS: 3)
3. Lotoha'apai United (GP: 1; GD: -3; PTS: 0)
4. Pago Youth (GP: 1; GD: -4; PTS: 0)

Each team plays one game against each of the other three teams in the group.  The club that finishes first will advance to the group stage, which will comprise of three groups of four teams each.
