Copa Libertadores

Six games were contested in the Copa Libertadores' group stage on Wednesday.

GROUP TWO:

At Rosario, Argentina:

Marco Ruben delivered a hat trick (19', 61', 71') as Rosario Central dominated visiting River Plate of Uruguay 4-1.

At Sao Paulo, Brazil:

Nicolas Lopez (38') and Leandro Barcia (41') each scored once as Uruguay's Club Nacional held off Palmeiras 2-1 on the road.

Group Two Standings:

1. Club Nacional, Uruguay (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 5)
2. Palmeiras (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 4)
3. Rosario Central (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 4)
4. River Plate, Uruguay (GP: 3; GD: -3; PTS: 2)

NOTE:  Palmeiras defeated Rosario Central 2-0 at home on March 2.



GROUP SIX:

At Porto Alegre, Brazil:

Marcelo Grohe's own goal in the 33rd minute lifted San Lorenzo to a 1-1 road draw with Gremio.  Fred (a.k.a. Frederico Burgel Xavier) scored for the hosts in the 26th minute.



GROUP SEVEN:

At San Cristobal, Venezuela:

Sergio Herrera (8') and Carlos Cermeno (44') delivered the goals in Deportivo Tachira's 2-0 home blanking of Pumas.

Group Seven Standings:

2. Deportivo Tachira (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 6)
3. Club Sport Emelec (GP: 3; GD: 0; PTS: 4)

GROUP EIGHT:

At El Salvador, Chile:

Sebastian Salazar scored the winning goal in the 33rd minute as Independiente Santa Fe knocked off Cobresal 2-1 on the road.

At Asuncion, Paraguay:

Guillermo Beltran scored twice (49', 82') as Cerro Porteno held off visiting Corinthians 3-2.

2. Corinthians (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 6)
