US Open Cup

The opening round proper of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament took place with 22 games contested on Wednesday.

At The Villages, Florida:

Pedro Ivo Dias scored the match's lone goal in the second minute of second-half stoppage time as The Villages SC (Premier Development League, in the fourth level on US Soccer) knocked off visiting, Orlando-based Kraze United (of the fourth-level National Premier Soccer League) 2-1.

At Glen Allen, Virginia:

Aromas Cafe FC of the fifth-level United States Adult Soccer Association---and of Charlottesville, Virginia---stunned the Richmond Srikers of the NPSL.

At Fredericksburg, Virginia:

After a 1-1 draw through 120 minutes, visiting Pennsylvania-based West Chester United (USASA) won the penalty-kick shootout 8-7 over home-standing Fredericksburg FC (NPSL).

At North Miami Beach, Florida:

Miami Fusion FC (NPSL) defeated the visiting Boca Raton Football Club (USASA) 4-1.

At Westfield, Indiana:

The Indiana Fire (NPSL) defeated the visiting Cincinnati Dutch Lions (PDL) 1-0.

At Hillburn, New York:

The Jersey Express (PDL) knocked off the Clarkstown SC Eagles (NPSL) 2-1 on the road.

At Charlotte, North Carolina:

In another battle of fourth-division clubs, the Charlotte Eagles (PDL) defeated the visiting Myrtle Beach Mutiny (NPSL) 3-2 in overtime.

At Reading, Pennsylvania:

Reading United (PDL) blanked the visiting Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves (NPSL) 2-0.

At Rochester, Michigan:

After 120 scoreless minutes Detroit City FC (NPSL) defeated the home-standing Michigan Bucks (PDL) 4-3 in the penalty-kick shootout.

At South Huntington, New York:

Lansdowne Bhoys FC (USASA) knocked off the hosts Long Island Rough Riders (PDL) 2-1.

At Jamaica, New York:

The New York Pancyprian-Freedoms (USASA) defeated the visiting New York Red Bulls Under-23 squad (PDL) 2-1.

At Revere, Massachusetts:

Southie FC (USASA) blanked the visiting Seacoast United Phantoms (PDL) from Portsmouth New Hampshire 2-0.

At Portland, Maine:

AFC Cleveland (NPSL) took out hosts GPS Portland Phoenix (PDL) 1-0.

At Clinton, Mississippi:

Mississippi Brilla (PDL) blanked visiting Motagua New Orleans (USASA) 2-0.

At Wichita, Kansas:

The Des Moines Menace (PDL) downed FC Wichita
(NPSL) 2-1 on the road.

At Albuquerque, New Mexico:

Boulder, Colorado's Harpo's FC (United States Specialty Sports Association, which, like the USASA, is in the fifth division of US soccer) knocked off Albuquerque Sol FC (PDL) 2-0 on the road.

At Sacramento, California:

The Sacramento Gold (NPSL) defeated the visiting Burlingame Dragons (PDL) 3-1.

At Ventura, California:

The Ventura County Fusion defeated the visiting Los Angeles Wolves 2-1.

At San Francisco:

Club Deportivo Aguiluchos (NPSL) USA dominated San Francisco City FC (US Club Soccer, which, like the USASA and USSSA, plays in the fifth level of US soccer) 3-0 on the road.

At Tucson, Arizona:

FC Tucson (PEL) dominated visiting San Nicolas FC (USASA)3-0.

At Portland, Oregon:

La Maquina  (USASA) blanked the Portland Timbers' Under-23 squad (PDL) 2-0 on the road.

At Bonney Lake, Washington:

The Seattle Sounders' Under-23 squad (PDL) defeated visiting Outbreak FC (USASA) 3-1 in overtime.

NOTE:  Due to a lack of properly registered players, the NTX Rayados (USASA) forfeited their scheduled home match with Corinthians FC of San Antonio (NPSL).
