At Seongnam, South Korea:
Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma overpowered visiting---and fellow South Korean club---Suwon Samsung Bluewings 4-1 in their series opener. Dzenan Rodoncic scored twice (8', 66') for the hosts.
At Isfahan, Iran:
Igor Castro (18') and Mehdi Rajabzadeh (PK-76') each scored once as Zob Ahan Esfahan FC defeated the visiting Pohang Steelers 2-1 in game one.
At Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:
Mohammad Al-Shalhoub (13'), Ahmed Al-Fraidi (59'), and Waleed Al-Gizani (85') each tallied a goal as Al-Hilal bopped visiting Al-Gharafa 3-0 in match one of their two-game set.
