CONCACAF CL: Crew and Striped Gang Win Home Games; Sounders Beaten In Costa Rica; Santos Settle For Draw

The CONCACAF Champions League resumed on Tuesday with four games.

Group B:

At Columbus, Ohio:

Leandre Griffit (47'), Jason Garey (51'), and Steven Lenhart (79') each scored once as the Columbus Crew broke open what had been a scoreless first-half stalemate and ended up overrunning visiting Joe Public FC 3-0.

At Guatemala City:

Municipal came back from a two-goal deficit, thanks to goals from Mario Rafael Rodriguez (28') and Carlos Castillo (PK-87'), and salvaged a 2-2 home draw with Santos Laguna.  The Mexican club got goals from Rodrigo Ruiz (PK-8') and Oribe Peralta (13').

GROUP B STANDINGS:

2. Columbus Crew (GP: 3; GD: +3; PTS: 6)
3. CSD Municipal (GP: 3; GD: -1; PTS: 2)

Group C:

At Monterrey, Mexico:

Jesus De Nigris (22') and William Paredes (54') each delivered a goal as Monterrey defeated visiting CD Marathon 2-0.

At San Jose, Costa Rica:

With goals provided by David Guzman (56') and Allan Aleman Avila (81'), CD Saprissa took care of ten-man Seattle Sounders FC 2-0 at home.
