Group A:
At La Chorrera, Panama:
Javier Orozco's first-half hat trick (10', 22', 27) and Emanuel Villa's second-half double (67', 80') enabled Cruz Azul to annihilate Arabe Unido 6-0 on the road.
At Sandy, Utah:
Kyle Beckerman (20'), Jamison Olave (39'), Alvaro Saborio (PK-69'), and Paulo Araujo, Jr. (80') each scored a goal as Real Salt Lake easily overcame an early deficit and ended up dominating ten-man visiting Toronto FC 4-1 in a contest between two MLS clubs. TFC played their first game for new interim coach Nick Dasovic.
