Europa League Group Stage: Match Day #2: Draws for Liverpool, Juventus, and Citizens; FC Sheriff Shock Dyanamo Kiev

Thursday marked the second match day in Europa League group stage play.

Group A:

At Poznan, Poland:

Lech Poznan, with goals scored by Manuel Arboleda (47') and Slawomir Peszko (80'), blanked visiting Red Bull Salzburg 2-0.

At Manchester England:

Adam Johnson scored at 37 minutes, enabling Manchester City to gain a 1-1 home draw with Juventus, whose goal came at 10 minutes from Vincenzo Iaquinta.

At Madrid:

Simao's penalty kick at 51 minutes salvaged a 1-1 home draw for Atletico Madrid against Bayer Leverkusen.  Eren Derdiyok scored at 39 minutes for the visiting German club.

Pierre-Alain Frau's equalizer at 20 minutes lifted Lille to a 1-1 road deadlock with KAA Gent.  The hosts' goal came at Stijn De Smet at 6 minutes.

At Lisbon, Portugal:

Daniel Carrico (30'), Maniche (43'), Diogo Solomao (53'), Helder Postiga (61'), and Matias Fernandez (79') each scored once as Sporting demolished visiting Levski Sofia 5-0.

Giuseppe Rossi (41') and Gonzalo (56') provided the goalpower that carried Villarreal to a 2-1 home win over Club Brugge.

At Tiraspol, Moldova:

Alexander Erokhin (8') and Franca Jymmy (PK-37') each tallied once as FC Sheriff defeated visiting Dynamo Kiev in a battle of clubs who lost out in the playoff round for UEFA Champions League group stage berths 2-0.

Al Palermo, Italy:

Giulio Migliaccio provided the only goal of the match at 79 minutes as Palermo defeated visiting FC Lausanne-Sport 1-0.

Danko Lazovic scored twice (PK-43', 57') as Zenit Saint Petersburg doubled up visiting AEK Athens 4-2.

With Balazs Dzsudzsak (PK-28') and Marcus Berg (30') providing the goalpower, PSV Eindhoven blanked ten-man FC Metalist Kharkiv 2-0 on the road.

Luca Cigarini scored the game's lone goal at 45 minutes as Sevilla downed Borussia Dortmund 1-0 on the road.

Luigi Vitale (44'), Marek Hamsik (73'), and Edinson Cavani (90'+8) provided the scoring as Napoli erased a three-goal deficit to gain a 3-3 road draw with Steaua Bucharest.  The hosts were represented on the scoreboard by Emilson Cribari (OG-2'), Cristian Tanase (11'), and Pantelis Kapetanos (17').

At Utrecht, Netherlands:

FC Utrecht and visiting Liverpool battle to a 0-0 stalemate.

Falcao scored at 16 minutes and it proved enough as FC Porto defeated CSKA Sofia 1-0 on the road.
