Omar Cummings scored twice in the first half (7', 14') as the Colorado Rapids dominated the visiting Philadelphia Union 4-1.
At Santa Clara, California:
Steve Kinney (39'), Freddie Ljungberg (72', his first in a Chicago uniform), and Patrick Nyarko (90') each tallied once as the Chicago Fire scorched the San Jose Earthquakes 3-0 on the road.
