CAF CL: Group Stage Play Concludes

Sunday marked the conclusion of group stage play in the CAF Champions League.

Group B:

At Owerri, Nigeria:

JS Kabylie played hosts Heartland FC to a 1-1 draw.

At Ismailia, Egypt:

Ahmed Ali scored twice (36', 74') as Ismaily doubled up visiting Al-Ahly 4-2.

FINAL GROUP B STANDINGS:

1. JS Kabylie (GP: 6; GD: +4; PTS: 14)
2. Al-Ahly (GP: 6; GD: -1; PTS: 8)
3. Ismaily (GP: 6; GD: -1; PTS: 6)
4. Heartland FC (GP: 6; GD: -2; PTS: 5)

JS Kabylie and Al-Ahly advanced to the semifinal round.

The semifinal round will start sometime between October 1 and 3 with Esperance ST taking on Al-Ahly at Cairo in their two-game series opener, while JS Kabylie will travel to Lubumbashi, DRC for game one with TP Mazembe.

The return matches are scheduled to take place two weekends later.
