UCL Group A: 2-2 Opening Day Draws; Spurs Blow Two-Goal Lead While Champs Settle For Draw

Tuesday marked opening day of UEFA Champions League group stage play.

Group A:

At Enschede, Netherlands:

Inter Milan began their defense of their European club championship with a 2-2 road draw with FC Twente.  The Nerozzurri opened the scoring as Wesley Sneijder scored at 13 minutes only to see the hosts tie things up as Theo Janssen scored at 19 minutes. At 30 minutes, an own goal from Inter's Diego Milito gave the hosts a 2-1 lead, only to see Samuel Eto'o salvage the draw with his equalizer for the champs.  That's him celebrating.

At Bremen, Germany:

Hugo Almeida (43') and Marko Marin (47', that's him celebrating) provided the goals that enabled Werder Bremen to salvage a 2-2 opening-match stalemate with visiting Tottenham Hotspur.  Petri Pasanen (OG-12') and Peter Crouch (18') were responsible for putting Spurs on the scoreboard.
