CONCACAF Gold Cup: El Salvador, Trinidad & Tobago Advance To Quarterfinals; Haiti Eliminated

Action from Group B of the CONCACAF Gold Cup concluded on Monday with two games played at Houston.

In the opener, after his 76th-minute penalty kick was saved by goalkeeper Frandy Montrevil, Rodolfo Zelaya retrieved the rebound and scored the only goal of the match as El Salvador locked up a berth in the quarterfinal round with their 1-0 win over Haiti.

In the nightcap, Kenwyne Jones (PK-48') and Kevin Molino (67') provided the scoring as Trinidad and Tobago knocked off Honduras (who already locked up top spot in Group B) 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals and eliminated Haiti from the tournament.

FINAL GROUP B STANDINGS:

1. Honduras (GP: 3; GD: +1; PTS: 6)
2. Trinidad and Tobago (GP: 3; GD: 0; PTS: 4)
3. El Salvador (GP: 3; GD: 0; PTS: 4)
4. Haiti (GP: 3; GD: -1; PTS: 3)

Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago, and El Salvador advanced to the quarterfinal round.  Haiti was eliminated.
