At Kazan Stadium, Antoine Griezmann (PK-58', made possible after referee Andres Cunha---seen here---pointed to the spot after a video review) and Paul Pogba (81') each scored once as France defeated Australia 2-1.

At Mordovia Arena, Yussuf Poulsen scored the game's lone goal in the 59th minute as Denmark defeated Peru 1-0, spoiling the Peruvians' first World Cup match in 36 years.

In a contest played at Otkritie Arena, Alfred Finnbogason's equalizer in the 23rd minute lifted Iceland to a 1-1 draw with Argentina in the Nordic country's first-ever World Cup match.
Sergio Aguero scored for the 2014 runners-up in the 19th minute.
It was a frustrating Saturday for Lionel Messi (pictured here) as he was held scoreless---that included a penalty-kick attempt saved by Icelandic goalkeeper Hannes Halldorsson.

At Kaliningrad:
Goals from Oghenekara Etebo (OG-32') and Luka Modric (PK-71'; that's him, on the left, celebrating with teammate Ante Rebic after scoring) enabled Croatia to blank Nigeria 2-0.
