US Open : No Amateur Clubs Left; Republic Knock Off Sounders To Join Nashville SC And Louisville City As Last Non-MLS Clubs In Tourney

The US Open Cup Tournament's fourth round concluded on Wednesday with 13 games.

At Columbus, Ohio:

After a 2-2 draw through 120 minutes, the Chicago Fire won an extensive penalty-kick shootout 10-9 on the road over the Columbus Crew.

For the record, Aleksandar Katai, Dax McCarty, Diego Campos, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Brandt Bronico, Grant Lillard, Jorge Corrales, Rafael Ramos, Jonathan Campbell, and Richard Sanchez converted their spot kicks for the guests.

At Harrison, New Jersey:

Daniel Royer scored twice (87', 89') as the New York Red Bulls demolished visiting New York City 4-0.

At Hialeah, Florida:

Orlando City dominated Miami United (the tournament last remaining NPSL club) 3-0 on the road.

Stefano Pinho (37'), Dillon Powers (53'), and PC (62') each scored once for the Lions.

At Kennesaw, Georgia:

Andrew Carleton (14'), Ezequiel Barco (PK-47'), and Romario Williams (64') each scored once as Atlanta United dominated the visiting Charleston Battery (USL) 3-0

At Cincinnati:

There will be no magical run this year for FC Cincinnati as Minnesota United, after 120 scoreless minutes, won the penalty-kick shootout 3-1 on the road at the lame-duck USL club's expense.

Christian Ramirez, Collin Martin, and Brent Kallman converted their spot kicks for the Loons.

At Nashville, Tennessee:

Michael Azira (OG-39') and Ropapa Mensah (78') each scored once as Nashville SC (USL) blanked the visiting Colorado Rapids 2-0.

At Houston:

Memo Rodriguez (55', 71') and Aldo Quintanilla (68', 90'+2) each scored twice in the second half as the Houston Dynamo broke open what was at halftime a scoreless stalemate and demolished the visiting NTX Rayados 5-0 as the tournament's last remaining fifth-division entry bit the dust.

At San Antonio, Texas:

Tesho Akindele scored the only goal of the match in the 46th minute as FC Dallas defeated the USL's San Antonio FC 1-0 on the road.

At Sandy, Utah:

Johnny Russell (47') and Kharlton Belmar (74') each scored a second-half goal as Sporting Kansas City blanked Real Salt Lake 2-0 on the road in an all-MLS affair.

At Los Angeles:

The Los Angeles Football Club, with goals through the courtesy of Diego Rossi (53') and Latif Blessing (56'), blanked visiting Fresno FC of the USL 2-0 in their Open Cup debut.

At Carson, California:

Ariel Lassiter scored twice (37', 85') as the Los Angeles Galaxy defeated the visiting Golden State Force 3-1 to knock the last remaining amateur club (this one from the PDL; Miami United and the NTX Rayados having already lost earlier in the evening) out of the tournament.

At Portland, Oregon:

Jeremy Ebobisse (28') and Dairon Asprilla (67') each scored once as the Portland Timbers blanked the visiting San Jose Earthquakes 2-0.

At Sacramento, California:

Following a 1-1 regulation draw, Jure Matjasic scored the overtime winner in the 115th minute as the Sacramento Republic from the USL knocked off the visiting (and four-time Open Cup champs) Seattle Sounders 2-1.
