US Open Cup: Lions, Fire, Louisville City, LAFC Advance To Quarterfinals

The fifth round of the US Open Cup tournament concluded on Wednesday with four games.

At Germantown, Maryland:

After a 1-1 draw through 120 minutes (interrupted by a 90-minute lightning delay), Orlando City, with Josue Colman converting the winning spot kick, won the penalty-kick shootout, 4-2 on the road over DC United.

At Louisville, Kentucky:

Paolo DelPiccolo scored the winning goal in the 58th minute as Louisville City held off visiting Nashville SC 2-1 in an all-USL affair.

At Atlanta:

Nemanja Nikolic scored the only goal of the match in the 54th minute as the Chicago Fire knocked off Atlanta United 1-0 on the road.

At Los Angeles:

Benny Feilhaber (58'), Diego Rossi (67'), and Latif Blessing (89') each scored once as the Los Angeles Football Club came from behind to upset the USL's visiting Sacramento Republic 3-2.



All four games in the tournament's quarterfinal round will take place on Wednesday, July 18.

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Philadelphia Union vs. Orlando City SC, 4:00 PM Pacific Time

At Bridgeview, Illinois:

Chicago Fire vs. Louisville City FC (USL; last remaining non-MLS club left in the tournament), 5:30 PM Pacific Time

At Houston:

Houston Dynamo vs. Sporting Kansas City, 5:30 PM Pacific Time

At Los Angeles:

Los Angeles Football Club vs. Portland Timbers, 7:30 PM Pacific Time
