US Open Cup: Louisville City Join Philly, DC In Round of 16

The fourth round of the US Open Cup tournament opened on Tuesday with three games.

It is at this point of the tournament that all 20 US-based Major League Soccer clubs make their appearance.

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Jack Elliot (3'), David Accam (PK-27'), Anthony Fontana (44'), Marcus Epps (45'+2), and Jay Simpson (49') each scored once as the Philadelphia Union scored four first-half goals en route to a 5-0 home fist-beating of the USL's Richmond Kickers.


At Louisville, Kentucky:

Brian Ownby scored the winning goal in the 62nd minute as Louisville City of the USL came from behind to knock off the visiting New England Revolution 3-2.

At Germantown, Maryland:

After a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation, which was followed by 30 scoreless overtime minutes, Yamil Asad, Darren Mattocks, Luciano Acosta, and Bruno Miranda all converted their spot kicks as DC United defeated visiting North Carolina FC (USL) 4-3 in the penalty-kick shootout to advance to the Round of 16.
