At Kansas City, Kansas:
Krisztian Nemeth delivered a quadruple (43', 68', 78', 84') while Johnny Russell added a double (10', 50') as Sporting Kansas City annihilated the visiting Montreal Impact 7-1.
At San Jose, California:
Carlos Vela produced a hat trick (8', 45'+3, 66') as the Los Angeles Football Club destroyed the San Jose Earthquakes 5-0 on the road.
At Cincinnati, Ohio:
Marco Fabian (37') and David Accam (58') each scored twice as the Philadelphia Union blanked hosts FC Cincinnati 2-0.
At Columbus, Ohio:
Pedro Santos (2') and Gyasi Zardes (39') each scored once as the Columbus Crew blanked visiting Atlanta United 2-0.
At Commerce City, Colorado:
Own goals from Axel Sjoberg (15') and Keegan Rosenberry (34') helped the Houston Dynamo dominate the Colorado Rapids 4-1 on the road.
At Sandy, Utah:
Paxton Pomykal scored twice (32', 64') as FC Dallas doubled up Real Salt Lake 4-2 on the road.
At Vancouver, British Columbia:
The opening Cascadia Cup contest of the season, between the Vancouver Whitecaps and visiting Seattle Sounders, wound up as a 0-0 stalemate.
