US Open Cup: NPSL Pair Advance To First Round

Two play-in games were contested on Tuesday with the winners both qualifying for the first round proper of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

At Fresno, California:

FC Hasental (from Agoura Hills, California; National Premier Soccer League)  knocked off the Fresno Fuego Future (United States Club Soccer) 5-3 on the road.

At Highlands Ranch, Colorado:

After a 1-1 deadlock through 120 minutes, the Georgia Revolution (NPSL) won the penalty-kick shootout with the home-standing Colorado Rovers (United States Specialty Sports Association) 5-3 to advance.

Here are the match-ups for the first round, all games scheduled to be played next Tuesday (except where noted).  The hosts are listed first.

At Reading, Pennsylvania:

Reading Athletic AC (Premier Development League) vs. FC Sonic Lehigh Valley (NPSL), with the winner to host the Harrisburg City Islanders (USL Pro League) on May 21.

At Sanford, Florida:

Orlando City U-23 (PDL) vs. VSI Tampa Bay FC (USL Pro), with the winner to visit the Tampa Bay Rowdies (North American Soccer League) on May 21.

At Greensboro, North Carolina:

Carolina Dynamo (PDL) vs. Chattanooga FC (NPSL) with the winner to visit the Carolina Railhawks (NASL) on May 21.

At Pittsburgh:

Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL Pro) vs. RWB Adria (Chicago; United States Adult Soccer Association), with the winner to face off against the Michigan Bucks-Dearborn Stars winner on May 21.

At Beavercreek, Ohio:

Dayton Dutch Lions (USL Pro) vs. River City Rovers (PDL), with winner to visiting San Antonio Scorpions (NASL) on May 21.

At Conyers, Georgia:

Georgia Revolution (NPSL) vs. Real Colorado Foxes (PDL)

At Ocean City, New Jersey:

Ocean City Nor'easters (PDL) vs. New York Red Bulls U23s (NPSL)

At Miami:

Red Force (USASA) vs. Ocala Stampede (PDL), with the winner to host Orlando City (USL Pro) on May 21.

At Pontiac, Michigan:

Michigan Bucks (PDL) vs. Dearborn Stars (USASA), with the winner to take on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds-RWB Adria winner on May 21.

At Portland, Maine:

GPS Portland Phoenix (PDL) vs. Mass Premier (USASA), with the winner to visit the Rochester Rhinos (USL Pro) on May 21.

At Brooklyn:

Brooklyn Italians (NPSL) vs. Icon FC (USASA), with the winner to visit the Richmond Kickers (USL Pro) on May 21.

At Austin, Texas:

Austin Aztex (PDL) vs. NTX Rayados (USASA), with the winner to visit the Wilmington Hammerheads (USL Pro) on May 21.

At Sumner, Washington:

Seattle Sounders FC U-23s (PDL) vs. Doxa Italia (Manhattan Beach, California; USASA), with the winner to visit the Atlanta Silverbacks (NASL).

At Ventura, California:

Ventura County Fusion (PDL) vs. FC Hasental (NPSL)

At Laredo, Texas:

Laredo Heat (PDL) vs. PSA Elite (USASA), with the winner to visit the Fort Lauderdale Strikers (NASL) on May 21.

At Tucson, Arizona:

FC Tucson (PDL) vs. Phoenix FC (USL Pro), with the winner to visit the Charleston Battery (USL Pro) on May 21.

At Portland, Oregon:

Portland Timbers U23s (PDL) vs. Sacramento Gold (NPSL), with the winner to visit the Charlotte Eagles (USL Pro) on May 21.

At West Des Moines, Iowa, next Wednesday:

Des Moines Menace (PDL) vs. Madison 56ers (NPSL), with the winner earning a May 21 road date with Minnesota United FC (NASL).

All 16 US-based Major League Soccer clubs will take part in the third round of the Tournament on May 28.
