US Open Cup: FC Cincinnati, Miami FC Knock Off MLS Foes, Will Meet In Quarterfinals; Revs, Red Bulls, Quakes, Galaxy, SKC Also Advance

Seven games were contested on Wednesday as the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament's Round of 16 closed.

At Houston:

Ike Opara (61') and Gerso Fernandes (90'+1) each scored once as Sporting Kansas City blanked the Houston Dynamo 2-0 on the road.

At Boston:

Brian Wright scored the game-winning goal in the 48th minute as the New England Revolution defeated visiting DC United 2-1.

At Miami:

Kwadwo Poku scored the winning goal in the third minute of second half stoppage time as the NASL's Miami FC knocked off visiting Atlanta United 3-2.

At Harrison, New Jersey:

Following a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation, followed by 30 scoreless overtime minutes, Sal Zizzo, Gonzalo Veron, Daniel Royer, Sacha Kljestan (who had scored in the 42nd minute during regulation), and Felipe Campanholi Martins all converted their spot kicks as the New York Red Bulls took the penalty-kick shootout 5-3 over the visiting Philadelphia Union.

At Cincinnati:

After 120 scoreless minutes, Josu, Harrison Delbridge, and Jimmy McLaughlin converted their spot kicks as the USL's FC Cincinnati took the penalty-kick shootout 3-1 over the visiting Chicago Fire.

The hosts had a big night from goalkeeper Mitch Hilderbrandt, who made three critical saves during the shootout.

At San Jose, California:

Shea Salinas (6') and Danny Hoesen (84') each scored a goal as the San Jose Earthquakes held off the visiting 10-man Seattle Sounders 2-1.

At Carson, California:

Ariel Lassiter (47') and Bradford Jamieson (49') each scored a second-half goal two minutes apart as the Los Angeles Galaxy blanked the visiting Sacramento Republic from the USL 2-0.
