Copa Libertadores: Penarol, Club Libertad, Universidad Catolica, and Once Caldas Advance On Perfectly Awful Night For Brazilian Clubs

Four more clubs advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday.


At Porto Alegre, Brazil:


Alejandro Martinuccio (45') and Juan Manuel Olivera (50') provided the scoring as Penarol took game two of their two-match series with Internacional 2-1 on the road and won the series four points to one.


At Asuncion, Paraguay:


Rodrigo Rojas (57'), Miguel Samudio (85'), and Jose Nunez (90') provided the scoring punch as Club Libertad dominated visiting Fluminense 3-0 in game two of their two-game series, and with each team having garnered three points, won the series based on the better goal differential (+1 to -1).


At Santiago, Chile:


Milovan Mirosevic provided the game's lone goal at 85 minutes as Universidad Catolica blanked visiting Gremio 1-0 in game two and took all six points from their two-match series.


At Minas Gerais, Brazil:


With Diego Amaya (66') and Dayro Mauricio Moreno (71') providing the scoring, Once Caldas knocked off Cruzeiro 2-0 on the road in game two of their two-match series, and with each team picking up three points, won the series on better goal differential (+1 to -1)
